On June 19, 2001, Ohio Governor Robert Taft signed into
law Senate Bill 74 adopting, in some form, Revised Article 9 of the
Uniform Commercial Code as promulgated by the American Law Institute and
the National Conference of Commissioners of Uniform State Laws. The effective
date of Revised Article 9 is July 1, 2001.
As of the effective date, all secured transactions in
Ohio, including those entered into prior to the effective date, will
be
governed by this law.

IN FILING LOCATION
As
of Monday, July 1, 2001, all non-real estate filings (Article
9’s) are to be filed at the Secretary of State’s Office.
The
only UCC’s that Recorder’s can accept are UCC’s related to real
estate or terminations to pre-effective filing date documents.

New
search fee………...$20 + $1 each copy
FORMS
UCC forms have also been
changed. Copies of the new UCC forms can be
downloaded from the Secretary of State’s
website.
